January 8, 2008 Update On Staff and Friends Safety

It seems to be getting to normal in town center. Still tension in upcountry areas. Transport is a problem especially from upcountry because vehicles are few and should have security escort. Fare has gone up to 200%. Evans, Isaac and Josephine have not yet reported. But are fine.

The government has agreed for a mediator(Ghana's President and Dr. Frazer the under secretary of African affairs), hope that they come out to an agreement.
I have asked Nick of CT, Mary of Mathare WEEP and Delinah to send you an email on how they are fairing. They may have more detailed information than I do, but are fine. I talked to Gladys’s, the Kibera Center is safe only that one lady called Grace Muthoni, her house was burnt but she managed to escape.

My family is safe. If all goes well, Schools may open on the 14th January 2008. Still praying that things get better..
